The Effect of Coffee Skin-Based UMMB (Urea Molasses Multi-Nutrient Block) On Erythrocytes, Hematocrit and Hemoglobin on Sheep Transport Stress
Abstract
Stress transportasio in livestock can be caused by distance and travel time, overcrowding in transport cars, malnutrition during transportation, climatic conditions, lack of availability of feed and water and lack of handling while traveling. The provision of coffee skin-based UMMB aims to overcome nutritional deficiencies and stress in livestock during transportation. This study was carried out experimentally with a non-factorial randomized design (RAL) with 4 treatments of K0 (without UMMB) as a control, K1 (UMMB based on fermented coffee skin 10%), K2 (UMMB based on coffee skin 20%), K3 (UMMB based on fermented coffee skin 30%) and 4 repeats. The parameters of the study are erythrocytes, hematocrit and hemoglobin.
The results showed that giving UMMB skin-based fermented coffee had a real effect (P<0.05) on reducing erythrocyte levels (16.58%), decreasing hematocrit levels (18.30%) and decreasing hemoglobin levels (31.72%).
