This study aims to determine differences in the income of pig farmers before and during the ASF pandemic in North Sumatra, to analyze the factors that affect the income of pig farmers in North Sumatra and to analyze the factors that affect the productivity of pig farmers in North Sumatra. This research was carried out in Deliserdang, Humbang Hasundutan and Dairi Regencies in March-July 2023 with a total of 96 respondents. Data analysis used is using multiple linear analysis.
The results of the research showed that there was a decline in pig productivity in two periods, where in the period before the ASF outbreak (2018 – 2019) it was 83.979% higher than in the period during the outbreak (2021 – 2022), 77.819%. Farmers' income also decreased in both periods, where income before the outbreak was IDR 4,171,875 to IDR 3,884,375 during the outbreakThe results of multiple regression analysis for productivity showed that feed conversion (FCR) and litter size had a significant effect on pig productivity before the ASF outbreak, while during the outbreak only litter size had a significant effect on productivity. The results of multiple regression analysis for farmer income before the outbreak showed that harvest weight, feed costs and sources of income had a significant effect on the income of pig farmers in North Sumatra, while during the outbreak it was found that seedling costs, labor costs and sources of income had a significant effect on income.
