    Abstract
At present, information and communication technology has undergone significant advancements. In the modern era, society prefers efficient and fast telecommunications technology. As a solution, Visible Light Communication (VLC) is introduced to integrate wireless and wired networks. VLC is a technique for transmitting information in the form of light at a higher speed compared to copper cables. In the transmission of Visible Light Communication (VLC), light emitted by LED lamps is modulated using Return to Zero (RZ) or Non-Return to Zero (NRZ) modulation techniques to encode data. By combining Visible Light Communication (VLC) and using RZ and NRZ modulation, we can enhance the performance of Bit Error Rate (BER) and Q Factor. The choice of optical amplifiers, such as Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA), can significantly improve the transmission performance of Visible Light Communication. In this research, the Visible Light Communication system measures the Q Factor and Bit Error Rate (BER) values when using the Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) optical amplifier and when not using it. The performance of Visible Light Communication (VLC) is evaluated using RZ and NRZ modulations. From the overall measurements at a distance of 5 meters, the Visible Light Communication (VLC) system with NRZ modulation achieves Q Factor accuracy of 9.14322 and Bit Error Rate of 1.54732 x 10-20, while RZ modulation achieves Q Factor accuracy of 7.84817 and Bit Error Rate of 1.06789 x 10-15. The use of the Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) optical amplifier can improve transmission quality, resulting in an average distance increase of 0.5 meters compared to not using the Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA).
