| dc.description.abstract | This thesis analyzes and describes the impact of local wisdom values in maintaining tolerance in Pematangsiantar during the 2016 regional elections. Local wisdom in Pematangsiantar has a role in maintaining a tolerant life in Pematangsiantar. It was proven when Pematangsiantar was selected as one of the three tolerant cities in Indonesia from 2015-2018. The implementation of the 2016 regional elections, which were originally planned to be held in 2015 simultaneously with other regions in Indonesia, had to be postponed to 2016. This was because the Sirai-Sinaga pair was not registered as a candidate for the regional head, which resulted in the Pematangsiantar General Election Commission (KPU) reporting it to the Administrative Court. State (PTUN) Medan. As a result of this report, the regional elections in Pematangsiantar were postponed and finally implemented in 2016. The political dynamics of the regional elections did not stop there as the conflict also occurred after the regional elections in 2017. However, the social conditions of the Pematangsiantar community remained stable and harmonious. The dynamics of the regional elections did not have major impact on the tolerance in Pematangsiantar, especially tolerance in maintaining tolerant regional elections. The research results show that the value of local wisdom in Pematangsiantar has a significant impact in preventing, reducing, and overcoming potential conflicts between religions, also has an impact on reducing polarization in the Pematangsiantar, and increasing the sense of unity and unity as well as a sense of awareness of the importance of joint supervision related to the implementation of regional elections, and has an impact on creating a harmonious environment, especially in influencing voters' attitudes and behavior.
