dc.description.abstractThis research discusses non-formal education organized by riverside communities in Medan City. The aim of this research is to find out the background to the formation of SASUDE on the banks of the Deli River and to see the role of actors, actants, networks, translations and intermediaries in the SASUDE community. This research uses qualitative methods with data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this research show that SASUDE is here to provide space for children on the Deli River side, who do not have opportunities such as extracurricular after-school learning facilities, a slum environment, as well as the aim of improving human resources, especially for children on the Deli River side. was the main reason for the formation of SASUDE on the banks of the Deli River. SASUDE is an educational forum for children on the Deli River, with various positive activities such as literacy, dancing, playing music, eco-bricks and environmental activities, with the aim of ensuring that children on the Deli River have positive activities. Referring to ANT theory, the roles of actors, actants, networks, translations and intermediaries play a very important role in forming and supporting the running of activities in the SASUDE community. The actors who play a role in the SASUDE community include (1) Teaching staff, (2) technology (3) the environment, and (4) community administrators, while the actants whose roles are (1) individuals (studio initiators) and (2) fund. Networks also play a role in the formation and running of communities, by way of (1) building networks and interactions between community members (2) building networks with surrounding communities (3) building networks through social media and, (4) actor networks with other communities. Intermediaries in this community act as (1) mediators in situations of conflict or misunderstanding with the local community (2) administrators or members who have special skills and are ready to help other members (3) being a representative in meetings with external parties and, (4) vision and mission. Translation in the SASUDE community can be seen from (1) the process of translating images in captions via sosial media or online platforms such as Instagram, (2) the prosess of using language that is easy to understand during training and conseling.en_US
