dc.description.abstract | Campus 2 of the Universitas Sumatera Utara Bekala Deli Serdang is a campus that is a development campus and has the potential to become a green campus. The Campus 2 USU Bekala area covers of ± 379,4 ha that divided into several types of land covers, such as oil palm plantation, arboretum, reservoir, building of forestry and others. Some studies have been conducted at Campus 2 USU Bekala such as medicinal plant exploration and tree health maps. However, research on faunal diversity such as birds has never been conducted. Based on this fact, bird species research is needed to the diversity and abundance of various bird species and the role of birds in maintaining ecosystem balance in the USU Bekala Campus 2 area. The research was conducted in the Campus 2 USU Bekala area in May-June 2023. Data were collected using the point count method, in which the observer stops at a point in the observed habitat and counts all birds detected either by sight or sound during a specified time interval. The results of the research showed that the number of bird species found was 24 species consisting of 16 families with a total of 706 individuals. The results of data analysis show the diversity of bird species in the USU Bekala Campus 2 area is 2.803 categorized medium. While the evenness index of bird species is 0.88 in the medium category with a fairly even distribution of birds. | en_US |
