Study of Herpetofauna Diversity in Campus II University Sumatera Utara Bekala Deli Serdang
Abstract
Area of campus USU bekala is located in Deli Serdang with 15 km distance from campus Padang Bulan, Medan. Area of campus USU Bekala covers 379,4 ha that divided into arboretum, palm oil garden, water reservoirs, faculty of forestry and others. This research conducted at area of campus USU Bekala due to herpetofauna data less concern in this area. It devided into three different landuse tipe, start from mei to juni 2023. Data collection of herpetofauna using a combination of Line Transect method by Visual Encounter Survey (VES). The results showed that the numbers of herpetofauna found 27 species consisting of 16 families and 133 individuals. The highest diversity is found in the arboretum land cover, the highest evenness is found in the palm oil garden land cover, the highest richness is found in the arboretum land cover, the highest species abundance was dominated by the striped tree frog (Polypedates leucomystax).
