dc.description.abstractThe importance of maintaining fluids is to maintain blood flow to the kidneys which also increases the filtration rate so that urine production also increases. In addition, without fluid restriction, fluid will accumulate and cause edema throughout the body, this condition will increase blood pressure and make the heart work harder. Fluid buildup will also enter the lungs, causing the patient to experience shortness of breath, affecting the patient's weight also increases quite sharply (Ratnawati, 2016). Non-compliance is a major problem in patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy. The purpose of this senior practicum is to provide nursing care based on holistic care for hemodialysis patients at Prof. Hospital. Dr. Chairuddin Lubis USU. This study used 1st managed patient with a clinical diagnosis of CKD stage 5 with a nursing diagnosis of excess fluid disorder related to excess fluid intake by providing nursing care in the form of how to manage the patient's thirst by sucking on ice cubesen_US
