Pengaruh Aromaterapi Lemon terhadap Intensitas Mual Muntah Pasien Kanker Pasca Kemoterapi di Rumah Sakit Murni Teguh Medan

Abstract

Nausea and vomiting is one of the side effects of cytostatic and often found in patients receiving chemotherapy. Nausea and vomiting felt by patients receiving chemotherapy cause discomfort can even affect the patients' quality of life. Lemon aromatherapy is one way to overcome this condition. The purpose of this study was to identify the effectiveness of lemon aromatherapy on nausea and vomiting in patients receiving chemotherapy. This study was conducted in the chemotherapy inpatient room of Murni Teguh Medan Hospital. Data collection was done by using Rhodes Index for Nausea, Vomiting and Retching (JNVR) instrument questionnaire. This study is using a quasi-experiment study with a total of 72 respondents consisting of 36 control group and 36 intervention group selected by consecutive sampling technique. The result of statistical analysis using the Mann-Whitney Test showed that there were different in nausea and vomiting between the control group and the intervention group after administering lemon aromatherapy (p=0.000).in conclusion, it is known that lemon aromatherapy is effective for reducing the intensity of nausea and vomiting in cancer patients undergoing aromatherapy and is recommended as one of the independents nursing intervention to reduce nausea and vomiting in cancer patients.
