dc.description.abstractfor self. development characterized by self-efficacy. hope. optimism, and resilience. Nurses’ performance is their achievement in performing their ability to provide nursing care in order to realize the target, vision, and mission of the organization/hospital. The objective of this research is to analyze the correlation between nurse practitioners’ psychological capital and their performance n Prof. Dr, Muhammad Ildrem Mental Hospital, Medan. The research uses descriptive correlation design with cross sectional approach. The samples are 48 nurse practitioners in the inpatient wards, taken by using simple random sampling technique. The result of the research shows that 2/3 of the respondents (66.626) have psychological capital in moderate category with the mean of 112.81 (SD = 7.109), more than 2/3 of the respondents (68.7%) have the performance in moderate category with the mean of 88.69 (SD = 5.400).The result of Pearson Moment Product statistic analysis shows that there is positive and significant correlation between nurse practitioners’ psychological capital and_ their performance (r = 0,832, p = 0.000). This indicates that the higher the nurse practitioners’ psychological capital is, the higher their performance. It is recommended that the hospital management increase its nurse practitioners’ psychological capital.en_US
