    Kemampuan Adsorpsi Batang Jagung (Zea mays L.) Terhadap Logam Berat Ion Tembaga (Cu2+) pada Kolom Adsorpsi Secara Kontinu (Down Flow)

    Abstract
    Batang jagung digunakan sebagai adsorben untuk mengamati penghilangan ion logam (Cu2+), loading time dan channeling effect pada kolom adsorpsi secara kontinu pada arah down flow. Penelitian dilakukan pada konsentrasi 50 ppm dengan memvariasikan laju alir masuk (5, 10, 15 mL/menit) dan bentuk/ukuran adsorben (1/4 lingkaran, 50 mesh, dan 70 mesh). Kinetika adsorpsi diamati pada laju alir masuk 5 mL/menit dengan ukuran 70 mesh. Penelitian ini menggunakan adsorben batang jagung dalam kolom pada arah down flow. Effluent dikumpulkan pada interval 28 mL. Loading time tersingkat diperoleh pada laju alir 15 mL/menit dengan bentuk adsorben batang jagung 1/4 lingkaran. Fenomena channeling effect terlihat jelas pada bentuk adsorben batang jagung 1/4 lingkaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kinetika % removal efficiency sebesar 98,30; 62,78; 34,74 (%) dengan volume sampling 84 mL telah mencapai titik jenuh. Removal efficiency tertinggi diperoleh 34,74 % pada laju alir 5 mL/menit dengan ukuran adsorben batang jagung 70 mesh.
     
    Corn stalk was used as an adsorbent to observe removal metal ions (Cu2+), loading time and channeling effect in continuous adsorption column with down flow direction. This study investigated solution in concentration 50 ppm with variation influent flow rates (5, 10, 15 mL/min) and shape/size adsorbent (1/4 round shape, 50 mesh, and 70 mesh). Kinetic adsorption has been observed of influent flow rate 5 mL/min with size 70 mesh. The experiment was used corn stalk adsorbent in the column and down flow direction. The effluent samples were collected in every interval 28 mL. The shortest loading time obtained at 15 mL/min with corn stalk adsorbent shape at 1/4 round. Phenomenon of channeling effect was clearly exist in adsorbent shape at 1/4 round. The results showed that % removal efficiency kinetic obtained 98,30; 62,78; 34,74 (%) with sampling volume 84 mL was reach equilibrium. The highest removal efficiency obtained 34,74 % at flow rate 5 mL/min with adsorbent size 70 mesh.
