The plant design of oxalic acid dihydrate from molasses and nitric acid by oxidation process has a production capacity of 3,700 tons/year and operates for 330 days in 1 year. The main process in this plant proposal consists of two stages, namely the glucose formation stage and the oxalic acid dihydrate formation stage. In the glucose formation stage, a hydrolysis reactor is used which operates at a temperature of 95˚C with a pressure of 1 atm for 1 hour which requires 501.804 kg/hour of molasses using a sulfuric acid catalyst of 48.417 kg/hour. In the oxidation process, a continuous stirred tank reactor operating at 71 ˚C with a pressure of 1 atm for 4 hours is used, which requires 360.145 kg/hour of glucose with a vanadium pentaoxide catalyst of 27.011 kg/hour. Then in the purification stage consists of several stages, namely the crystallization stage and the filtration stage. The plant location is planned to be built in Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java Province with an area of 5,856 m2. The water needs of the plant are supplied from the Bengawan Solo River. The electricity needs of the plant are met by using an electric generator. The planned form of business entity is a Limited Liability Company (PT). The planned organizational form is a line and staff organization form with the required number of workers as many as 100 people. For the establishment of the factory requires investment capital of Rp 311.382.107.390 and total production costs of Rp 213.720.331.382. Based on the results of economic analysts, the factory has a Break Even Point (BEP) value of 47,454%, Return on Investment (ROI) of 29,776%, and Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 12,0% so that it can be concluded that the pre-design of the plant for making oxalic acid dihydrate from molasses and nitric acid with this oxidation process is feasible.
