dc.description.abstractThe design of production facilities is one of the most important factors and influences the performance of a company. Facility design is the activity of arranging the physical elements of facilities, managing the flow of materials, and the safety of workers. Facility design activities include analyzing, forming ideas or concepts, designing and realizing systems for manufacturing or service companies. PT. Global Innovation Prima is a manufacturing company that produces products in the form of electricity using steam power plants. The raw materials for this factory are empty stalks, wood & water. The main priority in using waste as raw material is the use of empty stalk waste. This waste will be pressed to separate the empty stalks and oil that can be used as fuel. PT. Global Innovation Prima uses a layout by product type of layout because the placement of all facilities for the production process is placed based on the production flow. Based on research conducted at PT. Global Innovation Prima, there are weaknesses in the facility layout which results in poor material flow efficiency and high material handling costs. Then improvements were made to the layout of the facilities at PT. Global Innovation Prima uses the Systematic Layout Planning method and the Blocplan Algorithm to obtain the best layout to be applied to increase material flow efficiency and save material handling costs. Then a comparison of the proposed facility layout was carried out between the Systematic Layout Planning method and the Blocplan Algorithm. The final result of the research is an alternative layout using the Blocplan Algorithm method which has the smallest material handling moments and material handling costs. The systematic layout planning method layout design increases material flow efficiency by 39.75% and saves material moving costs of IDR 176.300.299,49 /month.en_US
