Efektivitasgel Ekstrak Daun Mangga (Mangifera indica L.) 20% terhadap Penyembuhan Ulkus Traumatik pada Mukosa Tikus Wistar

Abstract

Traumatic ulcers are disorders of the oral mucosa resulting from physical/mechanical, thermal or chemical injury with a fairly high prevalence. Treatment of traumatic ulcers using chemicals can cause side effects, so other alternatives are needed from natural ingredients that have pharmacological effects and minimal side effects, namely using mango leaves (Mangifera indica L.). The aim of this study was to determine the effect of 20% mango (Mangifera indica L.) leaf extract gel on healing traumatic ulcers in terms of ulcer size and erythema. This type of research is pre clinical research, Pretest Posttest Control Group Design. This research was carried out on 32 Wistar rats which were divided into two groups, namely the treatment group given 20% mango leaf extract gel (Mangifera indica L.) and the negative control group given CMC Na basic gel (placebo). Observations of ulcer size and erythema were carried out on days 0, 2, 4, and 6. Data analysis was carried out using the Mann Whitney test and Chi Square test. The results showed that administration of mango leaf extract gel was effective in healing traumatic ulcers in terms of ulcer size on days 2, 4 and 6 (p<0.05) and effective against erythema (p<0.05). In conclusion, mango leaf extract gel has proven to be effective in helping heal traumatic ulcers.
