Irrigation is an important factor in improving the success of root canal treatment. There is no single-use irrigation solution that can fulfill the functional needs and ideal requirements of irrigation materials. Cinnamon leaves contain essential oils, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, steroids/triterpenoids, and alkaloids, which can be developed into alternative root canal irrigation materials. This study was conducted on 28 mandibular premolars samples which were divided into 4 treatment groups. Group I : 6.25% cinnamon leaf ethanol extract, Group II : 2.5% NaOCl + 6.25% cinnamon leaf extract, Group III : was irrigated 17% EDTA 6.25% cinnamon leaf extract + 17% EDTA, and group IV : 2.5% NaOCl + 17% EDTA. Then all samples will be observed using a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) with 2000x magnification to see the ability of each material to remove the smear layer in the apical third of the roots. Based on the results of the ANOVA test, there were significant differences between the treatment groups because a significance value of p<0.05 was obtained. The results of the LSD post hoc test showed that there was no significant difference P>0.05 (p=0.490) between group 3 and group 4. However, there was a significant difference P<0.05 between group 4 with group 1 (p=0.000) and group 2 (p=0.023). The order of groups that can clean the smear layer best is group IV, group III, group II, and group I.en_US
