Tooth extraction is a common procedure in the world of dentistry. The wound healing process after tooth extraction takes a different time for each person. Generally, this process is influenced by several factors, one of which is the use of wound healing products. Chitosan derived from black crabs is a natural biopolymer that can speed up the wound healing process after tooth extraction because it has various good properties in speeding up each healing phase. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of black crab chitosan gel in healing wounds after tooth extraction in Wistar strain rats. This type of research is true experimental with the samples used being male Wistar strain rats which were divided into four groups, namely the 1.5%, 2%, 2.5% chitosan gel group, and CMC-Na as a negative control. The research was carried out by observing changes in the dimensions of the socket wound on days 1, 3 and 7. Based on the results of the One way Anova and Kruskall Wallis tests, it showed that the use of 1.5%, 2% and 2.5% chitosan gel was effective in healing wounds after tooth extraction in Wistar strain rats.
