    Abstract
    Tongue abnormalities in children that cause symptoms such as pain, burning, and soreness can affect the process of tasting, swallowing, and difficulty while eating, resulting an impact on the child's quality of life. The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of tongue abnormalities on students in Public Elementary School 101742 in Hamparan Perak District, Deli Serdang Regency in 2023. This study design uses of descriptive research with a cross sectional approach involving 77 sample. The sampling method is the proportionate stratified random sampling. Data collection was carried out directly by clinical examination, anthropometric screening, and interview. Data processing was computerized and presented in tabular form. The results of this study showed the prevalence of students who experienced tongue abnormalities is 76,6% (59 people) and did not experience tongue abnormalities is 23.4% (18 people). The prevalence of tongue abnormalities in students most commonly found in the age range of 6-9 years (50.6%) with the most gender is male (55.8%). The prevalence of tongue abnormalities was found most often in students with a thin nutritional status category (36.4%) and found the most in students with a frequency of brushing teeth ≤2 times a day (75.3) and with the habit of never brushing the tongue (50.6%). Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the prevalence of tongue abnormalities in students reached (76.6%), more commonly found at the age of 6-9 years, male gender, thin nutritional status category, with the frequency of brushing teeth <2 times a day and the habit of never brushing the tongue.
