| dc.description.abstract | The incidence of orthodontic bracket removal is a problem that is often encountered due to the bracket adhesive material not being able to adhere to the outer surface of the teeth optimally, thus prolonging treatment and increasing treatment costs. The addition of nano hydroxyapatite to orthodontic adhesive resin acts as a stress absorber applied to the bracket thereby increasing shear strength. Hydroxyapatite is extracted from duck egg shells because it has the main component in the form of calcium as the basic ingredient of hydroxyapatite. This research method is laboratory experimental withpost-test only control group design. The samples in this study were 24 premolar teeth that were attached by brackets with ORMCO brand orthodontic adhesive resin. Each group consists of 4 samples. The control group is the group without the addition of nano hydroxyapatite to the orthodontic adhesive resin. The treatment group is the addition of nano hydroxyapatite to the orthodontic adhesive resin with a concentration of 1% and 3%. Each group was soaked in artificial saliva for one day and seven days. Shear strength was tested usingUniversal Testing Machine (UTM). The average value of shear strength of immersion orthodontic adhesive resin on day 1 in the control group, with the addition of 1% and 3% nano hydroxyapatite was 5.405 0.111; 8.480 0.428; and 7,010 0.199 and immersion on day 7 in the control group, the addition of 1% and 3% nano hydroxyapatite was 4.847 0.406; 7.217 0.384; and 6.305 0.406. The results of the ANOVA test showed a significant difference between the shear test of the control and treatment groups. TestT test independently showed a significant difference between day 1 and day 7. These results can be concluded that nano hydroxyapatite is effective in increasing the shear strength of adhesive resin orthodontics. | en_US |
