    Estimation of Height Based on Intercanine Width, Interpremolar Width, and Maxillary Arch Length in Batak Tribe Students at the University of North Sumatra.

    Abstract
    Primary identification with fingerprints is difficult when the victim's body is destroyed, so it can be replaced by dental examination. Height is one of the four biological profile data in forensic anthropology, can be estimated from tooth size. Tooth size affects dental arch dimensions such as intercanine width, interpremolar width, and arch length. The objectives of the study were to analyze the differences in height, intercanine width (JIK), interpremolar width (JIP) and maxillary arch length (PLM) between males and females, determine the relationship between the three parameters with height and obtain a regression formula based on the three parameters in Batak tribe males and females. The research method was descriptive analytic with cross sectional design. Height was measured using a staturemeter. Impression of maxillary arches were made with alginate and poured in dental stone then odontometric parameters were measured using digital calipers. The results showed that there were differences in height, intercanine distance, interpremolar distance and maxillary arch length between males and females (p<0.05). In males, there was a significant relationship between only the intercanine width and maxillary arch length with height (p<0.05) with low correlation strength (r=0.20 - 0.399) while in females there was a significant relationship in all three odontometric parameters with height (p<0.05) with moderate correlation strength (r=0.40 - 0.599). Regression formulas for estimation of height (ETB) in males were obtained: 1) [ETB=151.726 + 0.458 x JIK], 2) [ETB= 127.103 + 0.852 x PLM] while in females: 1) [ETB = 98.483 + 1.530 x JIK], 2) [ETB = 104.949 + 1.102 x JIP], 3) [ETB = 105.108 + 1.076 x PLM]. There was no difference in mean height with estimated height (p>0.05). The conclusion of the study is that the estimation of height in Batak males is significant for intercanine width and maxillary arch length while the estimation of height in Batak females is significant for all three odontometric parameters.
