Uji Aktivitas Antibakteri Ekstrak Etanol Kulit Kelengkeng (Dimocarpus longan Lour.) terhadap Pertumbuhan Bakteri Staphylococcus aureus secara In Vitro
Antibacterial Activity Test of Extract Ethanol Longan Peel (Dimocarpus logan Lour.) Against Staphylococcus aureus Bacterial Growth In Vitro
Abstract
Bacterial infection in the mouth is still a problem until this day. Dry sockets and abscesses are complications of bacterial infections, one of which is caused by the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. Staphylococcus aureus bacterial infection can cause complaints of pain and discomfort, which can be treated with antiseptic mouthwash and the use of antibiotics. For this reason, the researchers utilized the potential of natural ingredients and organic wastes, longan fruit peel, as alternative treatments. The aim of this study is to find out the antibacterial activity of longan fruit peel against the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus, and the minimum inhibitory concentration. The type of research is experimental laboratory with the design Post test only control group design. The study used the ethanol extract of the skin with several concentrations: 50%, 25%, 12.5%, 6.25%, 3.125%, positive control chlorhexidine gluconate 0.2% and negative control DMSO. The results were tested with Kruskal-Wallis and continued the Post Hoc Mann-Whitney test. Results showed average values of 50% (10.15mm), 25% (8.7mm), 12.5% (8.45mm), 6.25% (7.35mm), 3.125% (6.48mm), 1.56% (0mm), positive control (22.28mm), and negative controlling. (0mm). It was concluded that dimocarpus loose has antibacterial activity on Staphylococcus aureus with a minimum inhibitory concentration is 3.125%.
