Analisis Kesejahteraan Masyarakat Nelayan Kota Sibolga (Studi Komparatif Nelayan Tradisional dan Nelayan Modern)

Abstract

This research aims to compare the welfare level of modern fishermen with traditional fishermen in Sibolga Municipality based on the aspects of income and consumption, living conditions, health and children's education. This field research is conducted by doing a direct survey. Quantitative data is used in this research in the form of secondary and primary data. 66 respondents/fishermen in Sibolga Municipality are used as research samples and this sample size is determined using purposive sampling technique. Data analysis techniques used in this research are namely descriptive statistics, and Kruskal-Wallis Comparison Test. In addition, the research applies Miles and Huberman’s theoretical analysis technique which consists of three stages of activities that occur simultaneously namely data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing/verification. The research results indicate that (1) there is a difference between modern fishermen and traditional fishermen welfare levels based on the indicators of income and consumption, (2) there is no difference between modern fishermen and traditional Sishermen welfare based on the indicator of living conditions, (3) there is a difference between modern fishermen and trdditional fishermen welfare levels based on the indicator of family member's health, and (4) there is a difference between modern fishermen and traditional fishermen welfare levels based on the indicator of ease of obtaining education.
