    Abstract
Inflammation is the body's natural response when tissue damage occurs. In this case, inflammation occurs in the gingiva which causes the inflitration of phagocytic cells to the damaged tissue. Neutrophils are the first cells to migrate from blood vessels during inflammation which acts as a defense from the body to phagocytize incoming microorganisms.Treatment from potential natural materials is very likely to be developed in reducing the severity of tissue damage, one of these materials is pomegranate peel. The content in pomegranate peel can act as an anti-inflammatory by inhibiting inflammatory mediators. The purpose of this study was to determine the number of neutrophil cells in the gingiva of rats induced inflammation after the administration of pomegranate peel extract nanogel. The research method is pure experimental with Post Test With Control Group Design. The samples used in this study were gingival tissue on the mandibular incisor teeth of male Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced using ligature wire, and following the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results of the study based on the Kruskall Wallis test showed that there was a significant difference in the number of neutrophils (p<0.05) between treatment groups. A significant decrease also occurred in the treatment group with a concentration of 25% and positive control on days 10 and 14 using the Mann-Whitney test. The conclusion of this study is that nanogel extract The conclusion of this study is that pomegranate peel extract nanogel has an effect on reducing the number of neutrophils in the gingiva of rats that experience inflammation.
