Hubungan Laju Aliran dan pH Saliva terhadap Kejadian Kandidiasis Oral pada Perempuan Menopause di Puskesmas Helvetia Medan Tahun 2024
The Relationship Between Salivary Flow Rate and pH on the Incidence of Oral Candidiasis in Menopausal Women at Puskesmas Helvetia Medan in 2024
Abstract
Menopause is a physiological process that occurs when women reach the age of 45-55 years. Menopause affects oral health, one of which is decrease in salivary flow rate and pH. Decrease in salivary flow rate and pH causes saliva as antifungal to be disrupted, thereby increasing risk of candidiasis. The aim of this study was to determine relationship between salivary flow rate and pH on the incidence and type of oral candidiasis in menopausal women at Puskesmas Helvetia. This study is analytical research with cross sectional approach. This study involved 117 menopausal women who were obtained based on purposive sampling with inclusion and exclusion criteria. Unstimulated saliva was collected by spitting method. Salivary pH was measured using universal pH paper. Diagnosis of oral candidiasis and its types through clinical examination. Data analysis using Chi-Square statistical test. This research showed that the majority of subjects were aged 55-64 years. The relationship between salivary flow rate and incidence of oral candidiasis showed significant relationship with value of p=0,006 (p<0,05). The relationship between salivary pH and incidence of oral candidiasis showed significant relationship with value of p=0,026 (p<0,05). The relationship between salivary flow rate and pH with the type of oral candidiasis showed no significant relationship with respective values of p=0,993 and p=0,978 (p>0,05). The conclusion of this study there is significant relationship between salivary flow rate and pH on the incidence of oral candidiasis, but there is no significant relationship between salivary flow rate and pH on the type of oral candidiasis.
