dc.description.abstractThe preliminary plant design of Isopropyl Palmitate from Palmitic Acid and Isopropanol with production capacity of 28.000 tons/year and operates for 330 days a year. The main process in the predesign of this plant consists of three stages, namely the preparation stage of raw materials, the synthesis stage, and the purification stage. The reaction is in the form of an esterification reaction that takes place in 4 continuous stirred tank reactors arranged in series with temperature conditions of 130°C and pressure of 5.5 atm with a residence time of 30 minutes in each reactor. Processes in isopropyl palmitate production include: 1. Preparation of Raw Materials 2. Synthesis Stage (Reaction) 3. Purification Stage The special assignment completed was the detailed engineering design of the continuous stirred tank reactor as a place for isopropyl palmitate synthesis by esterfication reaction of palmitic acid and isopropyl alcohol. The continuous stirred tank reactor that has been designed has the following specifications: 1. Shape : Sieve tray column, torispherical dished Head 2. Number of min. stages : 14 stages 3. Number of idea; stages: 35 stages 4. Number of min. actual: 47 stages 5. Feed in : Tray of 33 6. Column diameter : 52,576 in (1,335 m) 7. Tray material : Stainless steel 8. Distance of tray : 0,3 m 9. Hole diameter : 5 mm 10. Support ring : 40 mm 11. Area active : 0,569 m2 12. Area downspout : 0,074 m2 13. Column Material : Stainless Steel 316 SA-240 14. Shel Thickness : 3/16 in 15. Shell Head : 3/16 in The results of the economic evaluation at the IPP Manufacturing Plant from Palmitic Acid and Isopropyl Alcohol in 2028 can be seen as follows:  Capital Investment (CI) : Rp. 793.974.787.644  Total Cost (TC) : Rp. 1.259.926.939.547  Total Sales : Rp. 1.501.745.546.062  Net Profit : Rp. 149.628.989.523  Profit Margin (PM) : 15,297 %  Break Even Point (BEP) : 41,623 %  Return on Investment (ROI) : 18,846 %  Pay Out Time (POT) : 5 tahun 3 bulan  Return on Network (RON) : 31,409 %  Internal Rate of Return (IRR) : 19,046 % From the results of the analysis of economic aspects, it can be concluded that the isopropyl palmitate plant from palmitic acid and isopropyl alcohol is feasible to be established.en_US
