Background: Skin and soft tissue infection ( SSTI ) which is caused by infection with pathogenic bacteria by entering through the skin that has been traumatized to cause pus, Pus is a fluid full of bacteria and protein from the inflammatory process . The existence of antibiotics is very useful for getting rid of these bacteria so the use of antibiotics appropriately is a way to suppress bacterial infections however, if the use of antibiotics is not appropriate it can lead to antibiotic resistance. Purpose: This study aims to determine the description of b acteria in pus specimens at H aji Adam Malik General Hospital in 2020 Methods: This research was a descriptive observational study with a retrospective approach and used secondary data from the Clinical Microbiology Sub Installation of the RSUP. Haji Adam Malik Results : In this study, positive culture on pus specimens were more male (60.6%), the most age group was 19 59 years (65.8%) with the most frequent occupation being self employed (22, 5%), housewives (18.2), farmers and students (13.5%). The most co mmon bacteria found in IKJL pus specimens were Escherichia coli (38.8%), Klebsiella pneumoniae (14.3%), Pseudomonas aeroginosa (9.7%) and Acinetobacter baumanii (8.9%). Escherichia coli (76.2%) and Klebsiella pneumoniae (78.3%) were found as ESBL producing bacteria, while the most common gram positive bacteria were Staphylococcus aureus (8.6%). Conclusion : Most of the gram negative bacteria in this study were still sensitive to the antibiotics Amikacin, Ertapenem, and Meropenem, but were resistant to the an tibiotics Ampicillin, Cefazolin, Ceftriaxone, Ciprofloxacin. Staphylococcus aureus bacteria in this study are sensitive to Doxycycline and Clindamycin antibiotics, but are resistant to Azlocillin and Carbenicillin antibiotics.en_US
