Perbedaan Kepadatan Tulang Interdental Posterior Mandibula pada Penderita dan Bukan Penderita Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2 Wanita Suku Batak Ditinjau dari Radiografi Panoramik

Abstract

Panoramic radiography produces images that show facial structures including mandible and maxilla and their supporting structures. The changes of radiographical density are one of the signs of reduced level of bone mineralization. This research aims to find out the differences in mandibular bone density reviewed from panoramic radiography between Bataknese patients with and without type 2 diabetes mellitus in Medan. The sampling technique in this study was purposive sampling in the form of 7 primary data and 23 secondary data with a total sample size of 30 which were divided into two namely 15 radiographs patiens with type 2 diabetes mellitus and 15 radiographs without type 2 diabetes mellitus Bataknese women. Data obtained are processed through univariate and bivariate analysis. Since the data distributes normally, it is then analysed using independent T-test. The result indicates that the average value of posterior mandibular interdental bone density in the group of non-diabetics with type 2 diabetes mellitus was 134,551 ± 17,334 and in the group of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus was 111,297 ± 12,705. The result of statistic test with independent T-test, it is obtained that p<0,05, namely 0,000. The research concludes that there is a significant difference between the density of posterior mandibular interdental bone in patients with and without type 2 diabetes mellitus of Bataknese women.
