Enamel remineralization is the process of restoring calcium and phosphate ions to form hydroxyapatite crystals on the surface of the enamel due to the demineralization process. Barangan banana peel contains calcium and phosphate needed for tooth remineralization. The purpose of this study was to compare the changes of bovine enamel lesions depth after application of barangan banana peel (Musa acuminata L.) extract paste and powder paste 1% as remineralization agent. The samples were bovine incisor teeth that had been extracted and demineralized for 96 hours. The sample size was 6 consisting of 4 groups, namely group 1 (negative control), group 2 (application of barangan banana peel extract paste 1%), group 3 (application of barangan banana peel powder paste 1%), and group 4 (positive control). Barangan banana peel extract was obtained through the extraction by maceration method using 96% ethanol solvent. Barangan banana peel powder was obtained through ball milling at 800 rpm for 1 hour. The barangan banana peel extract paste and powder paste 1% was made into a paste by mixing CMC-Na, glycerin, propylene glycol, nipagin, distilled water, and barangan banana peel extract or powder 1%. The samples were applied paste once a day for 3 minutes within 14 days. Measurement of bovine enamel lesion depth was performed using confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) on area after demineralization and after application. The mean of bovine enamel lesion depth changes in group 1, 2, 3, and 4 was 16.55 ± 12.06 μm, 150.51 ± 95.83 μm, 106.86 ± 43.23 μm, and 111,65 ± 35,48 μm. One-way Anova test showed a difference (p<0,05) in changes of bovine enamel lesion depth between groups. Post Hoc LSD test showed that there was no difference in the change of bovine enamel lesion between the application groups of barangan banana peel extraxt paste and powder paste 1% and the positive control group (CPP-ACP paste). It can be concluded that there is no difference in the bovine enamel lesion depth after application of banana peel (Musa acuminata L.) extract paste and powder paste 1% as remineralization agent.en_US
