    Abstract
Lateral cephalometry analysis is growing rapidly in dentistry, along with the increasing needs for orthodontic treatments and vast development of digital era. Different races show variations in morphological characteristics in lateral cephalometric analysis. This study aims to describe lateral cephalometry patterns in orthodontic patients with skeletal class I malocclusion using McNamara analysis. The research method is descriptive analytic with cross-sectional design, using retrospective data from medical records of lateral cephalometric radiographs from a sub-population of orthodontic patients treated at various orthodontists’ practices in Medan. This research used Mann-Whitney U test and Independent t-test. From 38 radiographs of Malayan Mongoloid race patients and 39 radiographs of Asiatic Mongoloid race patients, significant differences were found in skeletal variables, consisting of Point A to N Perpendicular, Maxillomandibular Differential, and Pog to N Perpendicular. There were no significant differences in dental variables. In soft tissue variables, significant differences were found in Nasolabial Angle and Cant of Upper Lip. A significant difference was also found in airway variables, which is the Lower Pharynx. Study conclusions found that the maxilla and mandible in Asiatic race were significantly more prognathic than those of Malayan race, with a notably greater Maxillomandibular Differential observed in the Asiatic race. The soft tissue variables of Nasolabial Angle and Cant of Upper Lip in Malayan race were significantly smaller than those of Asiatic race. The airway value of lower pharyngeal width in the Malayan race is significantly larger than that of the Asiatic race.
