Hubungan Infeksi Helicobacter Pylori dengan Status Gizi pada Anak
Relathionship Between Helicobacter Pylori Infection and Nutritional Status in Children
Abstract
Background : Helicobacter pylori infection occurs in approximately 50% of the world's population and most infections occur during childhood and are associated with the effects of malnutrition, especially in developing countries, caused by hypochlorhydria and due to malabsorption of nutrients.
Objective : This study aims to determine the relationship between nutritional status in children and Helicobacter pylori infection.
Methods : This is an analytical study with a cross sectional design, carried out in the gastrohepatology polyclinic and pediatric ward of H. Adam Malik General Hospital Medan and network hospitals, and carried out for 6 months from May to October 2020. Data were analyzed using the chi square test with a p value <0.05 considered significant.
Results : Through the HpSA Test, 30 respondents (50%) were found to be positively infected with Helicobacter pylori, with the majority aged ≤10 years (66.6%) being male (63.3%) of Batak ethnicity (40.0%), elementary school education level. (43.3%) and good socio-economic status (85%). There was no relationship between nutritional status and Helicobacter pylori infection (p=0.241), but nutritional status tended to be worse in the group of children with Helicobacter pylori infection.
Conclusion : Apart from Helicobacter pylori infection, there are still many factors that can influence a child's nutritional status.
