Background: Abortion is a condition where the pregnancy ends before the fetus is able to live outside the womb and before the fetus weighs 500 grams and the gestational age is less than 20 weeks or 5 months and the fetus cannot live outside the womb. Many factors can cause abortion, including age, parity, gestational age, birth history, education level, employment, marital status, economic status, various medical illnesses, nutritional status, pregnancy spacing, embryo abnormalities such as chromosomal abnormalities, damage to the development of placenta or embryo, infection, cervical incompetence, chemotherapy in cancer, diabetes mellitus, and hypertension and others.
Objectives: Knowing the characteristics of sufferers based on age, parity, pregnancy spacing, gestational age, history of abortion/still birth, history of diabetes mellitus, history of hypertension, infection in the mother, history of smoking-drugs-alcohol, history of autoimmune disease (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), antiphospholipids syndrome, rhesus abnormalities,) beta-hCG, clinical diagnosis and histopathological diagnosis of results of conception with endometrial curettage preparations in abortion.
Materials and Methods: This research is a descriptive study with a cross sectional approach on 42 samples from endometrial curettage preparations with Hematoxylin & Eosin (H&E) staining.
Results: In this study, the highest age of sufferers was found in the 31-40 year age group with 18 samples (42.9%), the highest parity in the < 1 group was 21 samples (50.0%), the highest pregnancy interval in the > 2 year group was 23 samples ( 54.8%), the highest gestational age in the 11-15 week age group was 22 samples (52.4%), the group of sufferers who had no history of abortion was 29 samples (69.0%), all samples had no history of diabetes mellitus, namely as many as 42 samples (100.0%). all samples did not have a history of hypertension, namely 42 samples (100.0%), most sufferers did not have infections, namely 31 samples (74.4%), it was found that all samples did not know whether they had a history of smoking-drugs-alcohol, namely 42 samples (100.0%), all samples do not know whether they have a history of autoimmune disease, namely 42 samples (100.0%), most sufferers were not tested for beta-hCG, namely 33 samples (78.6%), the largest clinical diagnosis in the group 23 samples (54.8%) were incomplete, and 19 samples (45.2%) had the highest histopathological diagnosis in the group of products of conception.
