Gambaran Pengetahuan Anak Usia Prasekolah mengenai Pentingnya Cuci Tangan Pakai Sabun di Lingkungan IX Kelurahan Batang Beruh Kecamatan Sidikalang

Abstract

Preschool period is a period of sustainable growth and development, which is identified by physical development, increased skills and thought processes. In this period, many health problems are also found, especially related to clean and healthy living behaviors that have not been implemented properly and it leads to health problems, such as worms, dirrhea, and ISPA. One of the preventive measures that can be taken to prevent infectious diseases is washing hands with soap. It is one of the sanitation measures done by humans to make them clean and break the chain of disease by cleaning hands and fingers using soapy water. This research aims to find out the preschoolers’ knowledge on the importance of handwashing with soap in Environment IX, Batang Beruh Village, Sidikalang Subdistrict. This descriptive research is conducted by involving 30 preschoolers as samples selected using total sampling technique. Data analysis is carried out univariately to find out the frequency distribution of knowledge on the importance of handwashing with soap. The research results indicate that 93.3% of respondents have a good level of knowledge, 3.3% of respondents have a sufficient level of knowledge, and 3.3% of respondents have a poor level of knowledge. It is recommended that health promotion activities regarding the importance of handwashing with soap in Environment IX be carried out more actively, both by the sub-districts and the community health centers.
