The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries through the Directorate General of Marine and Fishery Resources Supervision continues to strive to optimize supervision and protection of fishery resources and optimize law enforcement for the fisheries sector in Indonesia, especially in Indonesia's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) in the Malacca Strait. Based on the description above, the problem is formulated: How is the legal arrangement regarding fishing crimes in the Indonesian Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) area?, Law enforcement against fishing crimes in the Indonesian Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) area of the Malacca Strait at the Marine Resources Monitoring Station And Belawan Fisheries?, obstacles and efforts in law enforcement against fisheries crimes in the Indonesian Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) area of the Malacca Strait at the Belawan Marine Resources and Fisheries Monitoring Station.
The research method used in this research is normative legal research and empirical/sociological legal research, supported by primary data sources and secondary data, and qualitative analysis is carried out.
The results of the research and discussion are that legal arrangements for fishing crimes in the Indonesian Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) have been regulated by several legal regulations, such as Article 73 UNCLOS 1982 and Law Number 45 of 2009 concerning Fisheries. In carrying out law enforcement efforts, the Indonesian government seeks to provide strict and effective sanctions to suppress fishing crimes in the area, but there are several obstacles in the implementation of law enforcement stemming from the limitations of the legal structure, constraints on legal substance and lack of legal awareness of the people who make efforts law enforcement and punishment for fisheries crime are ineffective.
