Faktor-Faktor yang Berhubungan dengan Pemberian ASI Eksklusif pada Bayi Usia 6-12 Bulan di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Simpang Bah Jambi

Abstract

Infant mortality rate (IMR) is an indicator of successful development in the health sector. Exclusive breastfeeding is one of the efforts to reduce infant mortality. Exclusive breastfeeding coverage in North Sumatra Province only reached 42,1%. Data from Simpang Bah Jambi Health Center shows exclusive breastfeeding coverage from March to June 2022 was 35%. In this study, the proportion of exclusive breastfeeding in the working area of the Simpang Bah Jambi Health Center was 37.7%. This study aims to determine the relationship of predisposing factors (age, education, knowledge, occupation, parity) and reinforcing factors (family support, health worker support, peer support) with exclusive breastfeeding in infants aged 6-12 months in the Simpang Bah Jambi Health Center Working Area. The design of this study was analytic research with a cross sectional approach. The population of this study were all mothers who had babies aged 6-12 months and lived in the working area of the Simpang Bah Jambi Health Center. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with a total sample size of 114 samples. Data were obtained through the interview method and the profile of the Simpang Bah Jambi Health Center. The analysis technique used was bivariate analysis which showed a relationship between age and exclusive breastfeeding (p=0.001), education (p=0.019), knowledge (p=0.002), employment (p=0.003), parity (p=<0.001), family support (p=0.002), health worker support (p=0.002) and peer support (p=<0.001). It was recommended to the Puskesmas to form breastfeeding support groups to empower pregnant women and mothers who have babies under the age of two to improve the exclusive breastfeeding program.
