dc.description.abstract | Palm oil cooking oil is a staple food for the Indonesian society, however the price
of palm cooking oil has been increasing towards the end of 2022 due to the rising price
of crude palm oil. Government intervention in stabilizing the price of palm cooking oil
is needed to prevent market failure in accordance with Law Number 7 of 2014 on Trade.
The research issues include why the government needs to achieve price
stabilization for palm cooking oil based on legislation, how the policy of price
stabilization for palm cooking oil is reviewed in terms of the principle of legal certainty,
and the government's competence in stabilizing the price of palm cooking oil based on
Minister of Trade Regulation Number 49 of 2022. The research method used is
normative legal research, which is descriptive with a legal approach, using primary
legal research data, secondary legal research data, and tertiary legal research data.
Data collection techniques involve literature review and qualitative analysis.
Government intervention is necessary to stabilize the price of palm cooking oil
because it is a basic necessity heavily consumed by the Indonesian population, and its
fluctuations can affect the country's economy. The government ensures the supply and
price stabilization of palm oil through Articles 25 and 26 of Law Number 7 of 2014,
which also provide preventive and repressive protection. The policy of stabilizing palm
cooking oil prices has been implemented, but it has not fully met the principle of legal
certainty. Trade Minister Regulation Number 49 of 2022 has been carried out with
intergovernmental coordination, but there are still deviations in terms of price and
supply of palm oil. As a suggestion for this research, government attention on palm
cooking oil is needed, supported by in-depth studies on the policy of stabilizing palm
oil prices, and an evaluation of the government's monitoring program needs to be
