Respon Vetivera (Vetiveria zizanioides Linn.) Akibat Salinitas Tanah Berdasarkan Karakteristik Morfofisiologi
Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of salinity on the
morphophysiological characteristics of vetivera grass and determine the optimal
level of salinity on the growth of vetivera grass based on morphophysiological.
Research was conducted from June 2021 to December 2021 at the Laboratory of
Plant Physiology and Tissue Culture Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences,
Greenhouse and Central Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of
North Sumatera. Study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with treatments
of salinity 0, 640, 1280, 1920,2560, 3200, 3840, 4480, 5120, 5760 and 6400 ppm.
Soil salinity had a significant effect on the relative growth rate variables at 4MSP5MSP and 5MSP-6MSP. The respons of some variables: plant height, number of
clump, number of leaves, root length, root biomass, shoot biomass, shootand root
ratio, chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, total chlorophyll and water use efficiency (EPA)
not show significantly different due to soil salinity. Vetivera grass is able to respond
to soil salinity treatment from 0 ppm to 6400 ppm and can be adaptize to the
environment proven by the morphophysiological characteristics.
