| dc.description.abstract | The development of information technology is misused to create deviant behavior,
namely gambling. This makes online gambling increasingly attractive, one of
which is Higgs Domino Island. This study aims to explain the meaning of online
gambling for Higgs Domino Island addict students in Medan City. This research
uses descriptive research methods with a qualitative approach. The data
collection techniques used in this research are observation, in-depth interviews
and documentation. Informants as data sources for this research are 10 online
gambling addict students in Medan City who are directly involved in the Higgs
Domino game. The results of this study indicate that there are several meanings of
Higgs Domino online gambling for online gambling addict students and their
causes. With a phenomenological approach, online gambling is interpreted by
students of Higgs Domino gambling addicts to get money quickly and easily (false
dreams only), to fulfill curiosity/challenge (inaccurate decision), as a filler of free
time/entertainment (wrong choice of solution) and to socialize or make friends
(inaccurate choice of circle). The meaning of online gambling arises because of
external factors, namely peer invitations and technological advances, as well as
addiction or addiction and an outlet for stress and boredom as internal factors for
students addicted to playing Higgs Domino online gambling. | en_US |
