This research is entitled "The Effectiveness of Digital Class Services as a
Communication Medium in Asynchronous Learning at the Faculty of Public Health,
University of North Sumatra (USU)" investigates the efficacy of Kelas.usu.ac.id as a
communication tool in asynchronous learning for Public Health students at USU. Drawing
upon theories of Mass Communication, New Media, Virtual Communication, Websites, Elearning,
Asynchronous and Synchronous Blended Learning, and Webqual 4.0, it employs a
quantitative correlational approach. The research population comprises students from the
Public Health and Nutrition Sciences Program across the 2021, 2022, & 2023 semesters
who utilized digital classes in the 2023/2024 academic year. Using a sample of 92
respondents selected via proportional stratified random sampling, data was collected
through questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS version 23. Based on the hypothesis test
carried out, it was found that H∘ was rejected and Ha was accepted, meaning that digital
classroom services are effective as a communication medium in asynchronous learning at
the Faculty of Public Health, USU with a strength of correlation, namely 0.645, which
means that there is a strong and positive relationship between variables. In the coefficient of
determination test, it was found that the strength of the influence of the effectiveness of
digital classes on communication and asynchronous learning at the Faculty of Public
Health, University of North Sumatra was 41.6%.
