Analysis of Personal Hygiene Behavior During Menstruation among Female Adolescents at SMP Negeri 03 Hamparan Perak
Abstract
Personal hygiene during menstruation is an essential behavior for taking care and maintaining reproductive health. Female adolescents may be unprepared for menstruation which can lead to personal hygiene issues and increase the risk of reproductive tract infections such as candidiasis, bacterial vaginosis, and trichomoniasis. This research aims to analyze personal hygiene behaviors during menstruation among female adolescents at SMP Negeri 03 Hamparan Perak. A descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach is used, involving 50 female adolescents at SMP Negeri 03 Hamparan Perak serving as samples, selected through stratified random sampling technique. The research Instruments are questionnaires with univariate analysis method presented in the form of frequency distribution table. The research findings indicate that the majority of respondents have good knowledge (76%), a positive attitude (56%), and good hygiene behavior (74%) during menstn1ation. However, 44% of female adolescents have a negative attitude, believing that maintaining personal hygiene during menstruation is not necessary and only practicing personal hygiene due to parental orders. The research concludes that the role of parents is crucial in educating female adolescents about the importance of personal hygiene during
menstruation.
