    Abstract
Hypertension is referred to as "the silent killer" and is the leading cause of premature death worldwide because sufferers have no signs or symptoms. The prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia in 2018 was 34.11 percent. The prevalence of hypertension in North Sumatra Province in 2019 was 31.97 percent. This study aims to see the relationship between sodium, fat, and physical activity intake with the incidence of hypertension at the Silau Laut Health Center, Asahan Regency in 2023. This research is a type of quantitative research using a cross-sectional research design. The study population is all people aged 25 – 45 years who visit the Silau Laut Health Center in Asahan Regency in 2023. The sample in this study was 144 people who visited the health center. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling technique. Data collected for primary data are through blood pressure measurement activities and interviews using questionnaires on variables of sodium, fat, and physical activity intake. Data analysis was conducted univariate and bivariate. The study resulted in the proportion of hypertension incidence in the Silau Laut Health Center of 57.6 percent. The proportion of hypertension in the Silau Laut Health Center in 2023 is highest in the age group of 36-45 years and women, excess sodium intake, excess fat intake, and low physical activity. Bivariate analysis using the Chi-square test showed a significant association in the variable sodium intake (p = 0.001), fat intake (p = 0.001), physical activity (p = 0.03) with the incidence of hypertension. People are advised to check their health regularly, maintain their diet by reducing salt and fat consumption, and increase physical activity through exercise or daily activities.
