| dc.description.abstract | The management of hazardous solid medical waste in hospitals as public health service institutions produces medical waste, especially hazardous solid medical waste, which increases every day. If this waste is not managed optimally, it can have a negative impact on health and the environment. The management of B3 solid medical waste in hospitals is still not fully implemented properly, in accordance with the organization of waste safety and hospital environmental health. This study aims to analyze the stages and facilities in the management of B3 solid medical waste at the University of North Sumatra hospital. The method used in this research is a survey by conducting interviews and observations for data collection. The collected data were analyzed using the frequency distribution method, and the results were presented descriptively. The results showed that the stages of solid waste treatment starting from reduction and sorting, storage, transportation, and processing fell into the good category. Meanwhile, the USU Hospital has not provided facilities for burial and stockpiling of B3 solid medical waste. Medical waste treatment facilities at USU Hospital are available quite optimally, starting from waste containers, PPE, waste disinfection materials, B3 waste stations, and waste transportation equipment. However, red, purple, and brown waste containers are not yet available. Waste transportation routes at USU Hospital have also not been available so far. So it is recommended that the USU Hospital add waste treatment facilities and have a waste transportation route that is separate from the traffic lanes of patients, staff, and hospital visitors, and add SOPs for the waste transportation stage. | en_US |
