Farming generally requires a growing medium, soil is a growing medium for plants.
Based on the level of quality, land is divided into fertile land to infertile land. Soil
fertility assessment can be observed based on indicators of the soil's biological,
physical and chemical properties. The ability of soil to provide nutrients for plant
growth is an indicator of soil fertility. Fertilization is one of the efforts to manage
soil fertility. Farmers in Indonesia still refer to the experience and knowledge gained
from generation to generation from previous farmers, starting from determining the
type of plant, determining plant nutrients, how to plant it to how to harvest it. Many
farmers in Indonesia pay little attention to soil fertility factors such as soil pH and
nutrients in the soil. The availability of nutrients in the soil is influenced by the level
of soil acidity (pH). Soil pH conditions have an important role in determining
whether or not nutrients are easily absorbed by plants, indicating the possibility of
the presence of toxic elements, and influencing the development of microorganisms.
For this reason, in this research an automatic tool for controlling fertilization in
plants has been developed. This system consists of an ESP32 microcontroller, JXCT
pH sensor, JXCT NPK sensor, water level switch sensor and solenoid valve. The
microcontroller is used to control, read and send data on pH levels, NPK and the
status of liquid organic fertilizer in the barrel to Blynk. Based on research conducted
for 21 days using controlled beds and uncontrolled beds, this control tool was
successful in providing practical effects in providing fertilizer according to plant
needs.
