Pengaruh Pendidikan Kesehatan terhadap Pengetahuan Sikap dan Tindakan SADARI Siswi SMA di Desa Bulu Cina, Kecamatan Hamparan Perak

Abstract

Breast cancer is the highest cause of female death due to cancer in Indonesia. Breast Self-Exam (BSE) is secondary preventions effort for early detection of breast cancer. This action is easy but most women unwilling to do it. Fot this reason, it is important for women to have knowledge, attitude and action regaerding BSE from their teenage years. This research aims to determine the effect of health education on the female students BSE knowledge, attitudes and actins. The pre-experimental one group test pretest-posttest design research involved 56 female high school students in Bulu Cina Village, Hamparan Perak Subdistrict using a stratified random sampling technique. The intervention in health educationabout BSE which is given after the pre-test is conducted classically in the form of a lecture and demonstration of the steps for carrying out BSE. The research instrument used a questionnaire measuring BSE knowledge, attitudes and actions. The Wilcoxon signed rank test is used to determine the effect of health education on BSE knowledge, attitudes and actions. The test result prove the effect of health education on the knowledge and attitudes towards BSE of female hight school students in Bulu Cina Village, Hamparan Perak Subdistrict (p value = 0,000;a = 0,05). Further research needs to be conducted using a pure experimental design to confirm the effect of health education
