Differences in Gender-Based Communication Styles among Civil Servants (PNS) in North Tapanuli Regency
Abstract
This study is entitled "Gender-Based Differences in Communication Styles Among Civil Servants (PNS) in North Tapanuli Regency". The study aims to explore the differences in communication styles based on gender among Civil Servants (PNS) in North Tapanuli Regency. Communication style is measured using the Communicator Style Measure (CSM), which includes ten indicators: Leaving an Impression, Aggressive, Open, Dramatic, Dominant, Relaxed, Friendly, Attentive, Expressive, and Communicator Image. This research uses a quantitative approach with a comparative type to compare communication styles between genders. The study was conducted through a survey of 98 PNS respondents consisting of 49 males and 49 females. The data analysis techniques used in this study were single table analysis, mean analysis, and hypothesis testing using Independent sample t-test formula with SPSS 20 application. The results of the hypothesis test show a significance value of 0.639 (> 0.05). The analysis results indicate that there is no significant difference in communication styles between male and female PNS in North Tapanuli Regency. Both male and female PNS have communication patterns that are generally similar. However, there are differences in some indicators of communication styles although not statistically significant.
