Formulasi Sediaan Hair Tonic Kitosan Oligosakarida dengan Karboksimetil Kitosan sebagai Antijamur terhadap Penyebab Ketombe (Malassezia Globosa)
Formulation of Oligosaccharide with Carboxymethyl Chitosan Hair Tonic as Antifungal Against the Cause of Dandruff (Malassezia Globosa)
Abstract
Research has been conducted on the use of oligosaccharide chitosan and
carboxymethyl chitosan in the formulation of hair tonic preparations as antifungal
against the cause of dandruff (Malassezia globosa). Hair tonic is a liquid hair care
product used to nourish hair and prevent dandruff. The process of making hair tonic
with the addition of oligosaccharide chitosan and carboxymethyl chitosan to improve
the quality of hair tonic preparations as antifungal. Antifungal activity testing was
carried out against Malassezia globosa fungus isolated from dandruff to see the
effective concentration of oligosaccharide chitosan from the three concentration
variations, namely 0.5%, 1%, and 1.5%. The process of making hair tonic
preparations uses experimental and characterization methods using parameters such
as homogeneity test, pH test, viscosity test, irritation test, and fungal activity test.
The best hair tonic preparation is with the addition of 1.5% oligosaccharide chitosan.
The evaluation results of the hair toninc preparation of the three variations of
chitosan oligosaccharide concentration for 10 weeks showed that the pH value of the
hair tonic preparation was in accordance with the pH requirements of the skin and
there were no changes in color, aroma, and texture during storage at room
temperature. The viscosity value tends to be stable during the storage period.
Antifungal activity test, the widest inhibition zone diameter with the addition of 1.5%
chitosan oligosaccharide is 12.6 mm.
