The Influence of Sociodemography and Lifestyle on The Incidence of Ischemic Stroke in Inpatients at Dr. R.M. Djoelham Binjai Hospital in 2022
Abstract
Stroke is an important global health problem because it can cause death and is one of the main causes of disability. In Indonesia, there is an increase in the prevalence of stroke events where the prevalence of stroke events based on doctor's diagnosis from 7.0 percent in 2013 to 10.9 percent in 2018. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of sociodemographics and lifestyle on the incidence of ischemic stroke in inpatients at RSUD Dr. R.M. Djoelham Binjai in 2022. This type of research is an observational analytic with a case control study design. Subjects consisted of cases and controls with a ratio of 1:1. The sample consisted of 53 cases and 53 controls. Case samples were ischemic stroke patients at Dr. R.M. Djoelham Binjai Hospital. Control samples were non- stroke patients in the general surgery department. The results of multiple logistic regression test obtained a significant influence between diet OR = 4.511, (95%CI 1.815-11.208 p value 0.001), physical activity OR = 2.037, (95%CI 1.170-3.548 p value 0.012), age OR = 3.341, (95%CI 1.249-8.937 p value 0.016) on the incidence of ischemic stroke at Dr. R.M. Djoelham Binjai Hospital. It is recommended for patients to adopt a healthy lifestyle by doing stroke prevention to avoid recurrent stroke.
