Abstract
A long-term condition where the body is unable to produce or useinsulin effectively,if not managed properly, can lead to complications known as Type 2 DiabetesMellitus (Type 2 DM2). Risk Factors for Type 2 DM include age, body mass index, waist circumference, physical activity, daily consumption of vegetables and fruits, history of hypertension, history of high blood sugar, and history of diabetes mellitusin the family. The study aims to identify the risk factors of Type 2 DM in KlumpangKampung Village. A cross-sectional methodology with a quantitative design isused, involving 60 elderly individuals attending the Health Service Post(Posyandu)in Klumpang Kampung Village. Participants are selected using a purposivesampling technique with FINDRISC questionnaire. The study finds that the riskfactors for the Type2 DM include male and female with a waist circumference over80 cm and 90 cm, and a majority of individuals over 64 years old are at greaterrisk of developing Type 2 DM. This condition increases the risk for dyslipidemia, which in turn increases the likelihood of developing Type 2 DM.In addition to that, individuals over 45 years old face a greater risk of developing DM and glucoseintolerance due to degenerative factors, including a decline in body function, particularly in the beta cells function responsible for insulin production. Therefore,it is essential for the community in Klumpang Kampung village to prioritize ahealthy lifestle and participate in regular activities organized by the Posyandu formonthly health control.
