dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this research is to analyze and determine the influence and understanding of University of North Sumatra students regarding online identity fraud on vigilance in using Instagram. The theories used in this research are Computer Mediated Communication Theory, Identity Theory, Self Vigilance and Situational Awareness. This research is a quantitative study with a sample size of 100 respondents selected by sampling techniques using proportional stratified random sampling and purposive sampling. The method used in this research is correlation. This method aims to find the presence or absence of a correlation. The data analysis techniques used in this study are single table analysis, cross table analysis and hypothesis testing through the Spearman's Rho Rank-Order Correlations formula using the SPSS 27.0 application. In this study, Ha is accepted, which means that there is an influence of online identity fraud on vigilance on Instagram social media for University of North Sumatra students. This is obtained through the results of hypothesis testing which shows the number 0.580 on the Guilford scale, this number is at the level of 0.41 - 0.70 which shows a significant correlation, meaning that there is an influence between variable X on variable Y by 33%. Identity fraud on Instagram utilizes digital technology through the use of false information in usernames, full names, biographies to profile photos that do not reflect actual identities. Based on the research conducted, the results show that the variable identity forgery affects vigilance in the social media Instagram of North Sumatera University students. | en_US |
