dc.description.abstract | Plants have an important role because they can absorb and store carbon as
biomass through sequestration processes or other mechanisms over a long period
of time. The University of North Sumatra (USU) is one of the state campuses with
the nickname green campus or green campus that has vegetation that can absorb
carbon. USU campus also plays an important role as Green Open Space (RTH) in
Medan City. As part of RTH, the ability of RTH is to absorb carbon dioxide (CO2).
The purpose of this research is to calculate Above Ground Biomass and Below
Ground Biomass and Soil Organic Carbon in USU green open space in Padang
Bulan campus. The method used for stand and necromass data is the allometric
equation, while the method used for understory and litter data is the destructive
method. The results showed that the value of carbon reserves available above
ground (Above Ground Biomass) in RTH USU Padang Bulan campus was 151.72
Ton/Ha and the value of carbon reserves available below ground (Below Ground
Biomass) was 56.13 Ton/Ha, and soil organic carbon (Soil Organic Carbon) in the
USU Padang Bulan campus area was 68.06 Ton/Ha. | en_US |
