Pendugaan Biomassa dan Karbon Menggunakan Citra Landsat 8 OLI di Taman Kota Medan dan Binjai
Estimation of Biomass and Carbon Using Landsat 8 OLI Images in Medan and Binjai City Park
Abstract
City parks have become increasingly crucial green open spaces, playing a vital role in urban life by providing areas for vegetation growth. This importance is accentuated as population density rises and land use changes extensively into residential areas. Additionally, city parks serve as essential providers of oxygen and absorbers of carbon dioxide. Estimating the magnitude of carbon stock in city parks in Medan is imperative, given that Medan is one of Indonesia's largest cities with high population density. Therefore, this study aims to develop a spatial model for estimating biomass and carbon in Medan and Binjai city parks. Landsat 8 OLI imagery be utilized to determine vegetation index values, and allometric equations be employed to ascertain biomass quantities in the field. The vegetation index serve as the independent variable (X), while biomass and carbon will be the dependent variables (Y), followed by the development of a spatial model. The logarithmic regression equation model was selected to estimate biomass in Medan and Binjai city parks with the equation y = 95716.4ln(x) + 178044.9 and to estimate carbon with the equation y = 44986.7ln(x) + 83691.1. The government and various stakeholders are expected to help optimize the role of city parks through regular management and maintenance evaluations, establish regulations for park protection, and designate city parks as protected areas.
