Hubungan Pengetahuan dan Sikap dengan Tindakan Personal Hygiene Saat Menstruasi pada Remaja Putri di YPI Ar Rahman

Abstract

Reproductive health issues among adolescent girls, particularly poor personal hygiene during menstruation, rank among the highest globally, with prevalence rates around 35-42%. Maintaining personal hygiene during menstruation is crucial for both physical and health and is supported by adequate knowledge, positive attitudes, and proper practices regarding menstruation. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between knowledge and attitude with personal hygiene practices during menstruation among adolescent girls at YPI Ar Rahman. This study employed a correlational analytic design with a cross- sectional approach, using non-probability total sampling, encompassing 72 respondents. The results indicated that the majority of the girls had poor knowledge of personal hygiene (40.6%), negative attitudes towards personal hygiene (62.5%), and poor personal hygiene practices (80.6%). The hypothesis was accepted with p- values of 0.048 and 0.000 < a 0.05, indicating a significant relationship between knowledge and personal hygiene practices, and between attitude and personal hygiene practices during menstruation among the girls at YPI Ar Rahman. The conclusion drawn from this study is that there is a significant relationship between knowledge and attitude with personal hygiene practices during menstruation among adolescent girls. It is hoped that adolescent girls will routinely apply and maintain personal hygiene practices during menstruation in their daily lives
